During the first Project Vend experiment, Claudius managed a small office shop and responded to requests for metal cubes. But pricing and discounts repeatedly undermined its results. The researchers did not conclude that this version was ready to run their shop. Its record preserves both initiative and mistakes—useful evidence without inventing a farewell, a shutdown or a successful business.
